ST. MARY’S, GA.- Robert Lee Thomas, Jr. 72, of St. Mary’s, formerly of Moultrie, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021.
**** A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Rose Hill Baptist Church.
Born February 6, 1949 in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Thomas, Sr. and Frankie Myrtice Yowhn Thomas. Mr. Thomas retired as a Registered Nurse from Colquitt Regional Medical Center, where he started his career as a respiratory therapist and practiced as a paramedic. He held many positions while employed at CRMC including staff RN, ER Director, Nursing Supervisor, and clinical educator. He also served in the medical field at Autry State Prison during his career as a registered nurse. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Julie Carol Alderman Thomas.
Survivors include his daughter, Teah Thomas Bowen; grandchildren, Luke Bowen and Isla Bowen; brother, Donnie Thomas; sister-in-law, Belinda Thomas; nephew, Blake Thomas; ex-wife and special friend, Dorothy Bryan Thomas; stepson, Casey Fowler.
His greatest joy in life came from his daughter, Teah and his grandchildren, Luke and Isla. He also took great pride in helping those in his community through his career as a nurse.
