Samuel "Sam" Ellis Smith

MOULTRIE, GA – Samuel “Sam” Ellis Smith, 27, of Moultrie, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023, at his home in Coolidge, Georgia

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Stanley Norman officiating.  Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 PM Wednesday at Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Casketbearers will be John Smith, Kohle Hargraves, Gannon Hargraves, John D. Rice, Collin Smith and Taye Almond.

Born April 15, 1996, in Carrollton, Georgia, he was the son of Russ Smith and Kimberly Steele Smith of Moultrie.  Sam was a farmer, and a heavy equipment operator with Thrift Land Clearing.  He was a Christian and member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.   He loved his family, animals and enjoyed cooking and spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and riding horses.   Sam liked going golfing and riding his dirt bike in his spare time.  He was a wonderful dad, son, brother, and friend who could always make you smile and laugh.  Sam will forever be remembered by many and will truly be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William E. Smith and Kay Moncrief; maternal grandparents, Marvin Steele and Charlotte Mair; aunt, Gloria Smith.

In addition to his parents, survivors include his fiancé, Wesley Ann Rice of Moultrie; children, Paisley Harper Smith of Sylvester, Ozzy Elle Smith of Moultrie; siblings, Courtney Smith Hargraves and husband Kohle of Norman Park, John Smith and Crystal Henry of Moultrie; nephew, Gannon Hargraves; niece, Cherise Hargraves; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members and friends.
