Sarah "Janie" Rhodes

MOULTRIE, GA.- Sarah “Janie” Peacock Rhodes, 76, of Moultrie, Ga., passed away on December 21, 2023, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Mr. Alex Shivers and Mr. Shane Wiley officiating.  Interment will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 PM at Cobb Funeral Chapel. 

Casketbearers will be Shane Wiley, Johnny Peacock, Arnold Dale, Anthony Coates, Tony Shealey and Frankie Wilson.

Born December 11, 1947, in Upson County, GA, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Peacock and Mattie Sue Thompson Peacock.  Mrs. Rhodes was a lady with a true servant’s heart.  She spent her entire life caring for others while never asking anything for herself.  Mrs. Rhodes relished her role as a mother and was a loving caregiver to her daughter, Becky.  She enjoyed listening to Alan Jackson songs and had a tremendous sense of humor.  It was often said she could turn any serious conversation into a laughing matter.  Mrs. Rhodes was of the Baptist faith.  She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie Milton Rhodes; her daughter, Becky Marie Rhodes; her siblings, Jimmy Peacock, Virginia Ricks, Lamar Peacock, Robert Peacock and Jackie Peacock and a special brother-in-law, Lamar Jones.

Survivors include her children, James “Mickey” Rhodes and friend Sherry Tyler, Cathy Rhodes Harrell and husband Thomas and Carl N. Rhodes; grandchildren, Heather Wiley, Shane Wiley and wife Courtney, Garrett Hoggencamp; great-grandchildren, Nathan Wiley, Nicole Wiley, Eliyah Wiley, John Wiley and Hadassah Wiley.
