She was known to family and friends as Jean, Sister, Aunt Sissy, Aunt B, and Queen B and was beloved by all who knew her.
Born February 10, 1938, in Gordy and reared in Anderson City, she was the daughter of the late Haywood and Naomi Brown. She began teaching in Worth County but spent most of her teaching career with the Gwinnett County School System and was teacher of the year for Duluth Middle School. While she lived in the Atlanta area, she was a member of the Georgia Walkers and joined many extended hikes and attended conventions throughout the country. She was also a member of the Atlanta Christian Chorus.
After her retirement, she moved back to Worth County to care for her parents until their passing. She joined Heritage Church and served the Lord by serving others. She was the home missions director for the church, organized disaster relief, traveled with mission teams, helped Kids Against Hunger ministry, and many more acts of service.
She loved to travel and particularly enjoyed annual fishing trips to the St. Johns River in Florida with family and friends and extended vacation road trips across the United States with family. She especially treasured a special circle of friends who shared beach trips, Bible studies, prayer, and worship together.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Wayne Brown, Hal Brown, Bobby Brown, and wife Doris, Carol Brown, and wife Mervin; and her sister, Betsy Brown Meredith, and husband Ronnie.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews and their families. And they express their heartfelt appreciation for her special caregivers and friends, Loretta Roberts, Brenda Williams, Leola Terry, Sherry Carter, and Lakeshia Randall.
