Shirley Linda O'Neal Wilkes

Shirley Linda O’Neal Wilkes, 76, of Doerun, died Thursday, April 9, 2020 at her home.

          Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, private graveside rites will be held Monday, April 13, 2020 at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens with Pastor Jill Willingham officiating.

          Born March 26, 1944 in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late J.L. O’Neal and Geneva Hunter O’Neal.  Mrs. Wilkes retired from Boring Glass as a bookkeeper and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Doerun.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Wilkes; brother, Troy O’Neal; sisters, Brenda O’Neal Corbin and Pat O’Neal Goodlett; sister-in-law, Barbara Cook.

          Survivors include her niece and caregiver, Terri Corbin of Doerun; step-sons, Todd Wilkes and wife Michelle of Thomasville, Ted Wilkes and wife Heather of Douglas; granddaughter, Cheyanne Wilkes; sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Currie and husband Adolphus of Florida, Eloise O’Neal of Fruitland Park, FL; nephews, Troy O’Neal and wife Becky of Moultrie, Richard “Bubba” Turpen and wife Julie of Louisiana; nieces, Wendy Correa and husband Seraphin of Tyler, TX, Susan O’Neal Crosby and husband Victor of Fruitland Park, FL., Nancy O’Neal of Moultrie, GA; several great-nieces and great-nephews and other family members.

          In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Doerun.
