Shirley Margaret Tucker Asbell, 85, of Moultrie, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 12, 2021 at Pineview Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Stanley Norman and the Rev. Herman Hampton officiating. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.
Honorary casketbearers will be her grandchildren.
Born September 23, 1935 in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Riley Tucker and Mellie Melissa Hunnicutt Tucker. Mrs. Asbell served as the Colquitt County Clerk of Court from 1988 until her retirement in 2001. She was a very distinguished, quiet and reserved southern lady who loved her family dearly, especially her great-grandchildren. Mrs. Asbell was an active member of Pineview Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Clifford Asbell; sisters, Marie Burdette and Betty Mathis; brother, Bonnie Tucker.
Survivors include her children, Vickie Birchfield and husband Butch of Kennesaw, GA, Patti Walters and husband DeWayne of Moultrie; grandchildren, Lindsey Manson and husband Matt, Michael Birchfield and wife Cory, Tyler Walters and wife Kearstan, Catherine Birchfield, Christopher Birchfield and Kaylee Walters; great-grandchildren, Camden Manson, Charlotte Birchfield and David Walters; sister, Helen Courtney of Moultrie.
