Sidney Florence Arwood Newsome, 83, of Moultrie, passed away December 25, 2021, at her home.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Julian Griner officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 PM Wednesday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Born January 14, 1938, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Jack Warren Arwood, Sr. and Eleanor Blanton Arwood. Sidney was a 1956 graduate of Moultrie Senior High, was an avid Packer fan, and shined with the football field’s bright lights as head majorette in the marching band. She and her husband, Bunker, owned Bunker’s Service Center for 36 years, and they worked side by side each day. Their years of customer service led to valued relationships with a number of Colquitt County residents. Mrs. Sidney made connections with numerous families through the years, and she thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to visit with many people in her time of service at Cobb Funeral Chapel once she and Bunker retired. She was a sweet, caring family lady and enjoyed spending quality time with her precious loved ones. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves baseball, fishing, and playing golf.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor Ann Willett; great-grandchild, Jacob Martin.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Clifton “Bunker” Newsome of Moultrie; children, Diane Newsome Wright and husband Anthony, Cliff Newsome and wife Dana, Jack Newsome and wife Carla all of Moultrie; grandchildren, Lee Wright and wife Sarah, Lindsay Martin and husband Grant, Natalie Davis and husband Jedd, Whitt Newsome, Nicole Willis and husband Richard, Clarke Newsome; great-grandchildren, Addison Martin, Emma Davis, Brady Davis, Eliza Davis, Kylee Willis, Jack Willis, Dawson Willis; siblings, Beth Scully of Orlando, Florida, Warren Arwood of Moultrie; sister-in-law, Carolyn Newsome; nieces and nephews, Kristen Scully DeVane, Jonathan Scully, Trey Scully, Bryan Arwood, J. Arwood.
