MOULTRIE, GA – Stephen Furman Willis Potts, 71, of Moultrie, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, at Pruitt Health-Sunrise.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
Born February 9, 1953, in Washington State, he was the son of the late Furman Willis Potts and Bernice Gloria Lanning Potts. Mr. Stephen was an inspector for the State of Georgia and was of the Baptist faith. He loved the outdoors, going bow hunting and building blue birdhouses. Mr. Potts was a Mason.
Mrs. Kathy wrote information about Mr. Stephen that she would like to share with all who knew him. The Parkinson’s with dementia has stolen most of the nearly 50 years that I have known him. His sweet, gentle, caring, and loveable nature is now only in the memories that remain close and dear to all of us. When he had the house built, they had to burn off a corn field. No trees, no grass, no bushes, no flower beds, no anything, but the dirt was here. But something started growing the day the first block of the foundation was put into the ground. The structure began to rise, and it formed a house in which we lived for over 46 years and became our Heavenly Blessed home. The grass that was planted began to grow, followed by trees and flower beds. They grew and multiplied throughout the years. The house went through many changes over the years, as did our lives. But it was called our home, a home he will come back to. His Heavenly home also awaits him! I will be blessed to know that part of him will still be around me.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Lynn Green Potts of Moultrie; son, Justin Willis Potts and wife Carmen; grandchildren, Marisol Potts and Evilyn Potts; siblings, Gene Potts and Diane Potts; several other extended family members and close friends.
Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
