Tammy Stephenson Clayton, 56, of Hartsfield, transitioned to her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
A graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born August 28, 1965, in Moultrie, Georgia, Tammy was the daughter of Robert Lee and Melba Stephenson of Moultrie. Being a 1983 graduate of Colquitt County High School and college graduate of Georgia Southwestern College, she became an elementary school teacher. Having recently retired from the Colquitt County School System, she impacted the lives of many students and coworkers at Randolph County, Sunset, Funston, and Doerun Elementary Schools. Tammy was known as a tender-hearted, compassionate lady who loved unconditionally. Her family was her pride and joy, and she enjoyed spending time with them, especially the grandchildren, and was very protective of her brothers. She loved the Lord and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Tammy enjoyed going on vacations to the beach and mountains, loved to practice her flair for interior design, and appreciated the beauty of nature. She was a soft and gentle southern lady who will be greatly missed by all.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her husband, Dean Clayton of Hartsfield, GA; children, Spencer Clayton and wife Samantha of Jacksonville, N.C., Sara Burroughs and husband Clark of Cordele, GA, Grayson Gandy and partner Jasmine Mascaro of Moultrie, GA, Hayden Gandy of Hartsfield, GA; grandchildren, Luna Thompson, Wyatt Clayton, Taylor Beth Burroughs, Aubrey Burroughs, Braxton Mascaro, Karter Gandy; brothers, Derric Stephenson and wife Paula of Bay, GA, Rodney Stephenson of Hartsfield, GA; nephews, Ryan Hall, Layton Stephenson and wife Suzanne; numerous special extended family members.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to a memorial tribute to be placed at Tammy's gravesite. Designated contributions may be mailed to Cobb Funeral Chapel, P. O. Box 1385, Moultrie, GA 31776.
