Virginia Moore Pate

MOULTRIE, GA – Virginia Moore Pate, 88, passed away at her residence on Saturday, February 6, 2021. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Reverend Billy Wilkes officiating.  Interment will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour to the service.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are recommended. 

Casketbearers will be Tim Glenn, Ashley Dean, Christopher Kerce, Jr. Willeby, Ethan Peavey, and Lenny Cord. 

Born November 3, 1932, in Morven, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Robert Julian Moore and Esther Robinson Moore.  Mrs. Pate was a member of Doerun Church of God.  She was retired, having previously worked as a bookkeeper for Sunstate and cashier at WalMart.  Mrs. Pate was a hard-working mother with a determined spirit.  She loved putting puzzles together, watching movies on the Hallmark Channel, and getting involved in a good wrestling match on television.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Derward E. Pate; brothers, Bobby Moore and Donald Moore; grandsons, Roger Dale Glenn and Michael Eugene Pate. 

Survivors include her son Derward Eugene Pate and wife Michelle of Palatka, Florida; daughter, Virginia Carol Dean and husband Carol of Moultrie; grandchildren, Tim Glenn and wife Jennifer of Valdosta, Chris Kerce and wife Lori of Valdosta, Christopher Pate of Palatka, Florida, and Ashley Pate of Houston, Texas; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; sisters, Martha Lee Howard of Miami, Florida and Julie Greer of Perry, Georgia.
