MOULTRIE, GA – Walton Tarver Knox, Jr., 77, of Moultrie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Reverend Thomas Parrish officiating. Interment will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00-2:45 PM at Cobb Funeral Chapel. 

Born March 9, 1947, in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Walton T. Knox, Sr. and Carrie Bell Shirah Knox. Mr. Knox was a farmer and carpenter who enjoyed his work. His fruit, vegetables, and home cooking were second to none. He never met a stranger and had a heart for helping others whenever he could. Mr. Knox was well known for his witty sense of humor and smile. He cherished his family dearly and was always generous to them. Mr. Knox respected all people and treated everyone with kindness. Mr. Knox was considered by many a dear friend and neighbor who could be counted on. He was a member of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Knox; sister, Jeanette Rowe; and brother-in-law, Gary Coley.

Survivors include his son, Barry Knox and wife Angela; grandson, Christopher Knox; sisters, Betty Coley and Linda Taylor and husband Robert; brother, Bobby Knox and wife Reather; friend and mother of his son, Glenda Apperson; nieces and nephews, Mike Coley and wife Lori, Pam Roland and husband Keith, Kim Gay and husband Don, Sandy Naylor, Schrea McBride and husband Eddie, Mary Anne Knox and Rhett Knox, Robert Norman and wife Christina; along with many other honorary nieces, nephews, step-children, and several extended family members and friends. 

Mr. Knox had a soft spot for animals and had many beloved cats and dogs throughout his lifetime. For those desiring, memorial gifts may be sent to Christopher’s Critters at 207 Arrowhead Dr, Norman Park, GA 31771. 

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
