William Franklin Smith, Sr.

LEESBURG, GA – William Franklin Smith, Sr., 64, of Leesburg, formerly of Moultrie, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023, at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Moultrie with the Reverend Marty Ferguson officiating.  

Born February 9, 1959, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late Elvie Smith and Gladys Leona Andrews Smith.  Mr. Smith was the owner of Smith Electric and was of the Baptist faith.  He was an honest hardworking man and a very skilled electrician.  Mr. Smith was a wonderful, caring, supportive husband, father and grandfather who loved his family dearly.   His hobbies included going golfing, fishing, and playing keno.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Marie Smith; son, Joshua John Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Debrah Darlene Peters Smith of Leesburg; children, William Franklin Smith, Jr., James Shannon Smith both of Leesburg; grandchildren, Taylor Zachery Smith and Joshua Dyson Smith; brothers, Delane Smith and wife Gina of Pavo, Jerome Roberts and wife Mary of Thomasville; sisters, Gladys Louise Cooper and husband James of Meigs, Wynette Roberts and husband Theron of Thomasville; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and friends.
