Janice Gay Parker

Janice Gay Parker, 81, of Moultrie, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Archbold Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Reverend S.E. Newberry and Reverend Chuck Scarborough officiating.   Interment will follow in Funston Cemetery.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Casketbearers will be William Parker, Danny Parker, Andy Parker, Jody Parker, Carlton Gay, Revis Gay, Chris Parker and Alex Shivers.

Born July 24, 1940, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Albert Curtis Gay and Mary Pauline Pope Gay.  Jan retired from the Colquitt County Board of Education as a schoolteacher and was a charter member of Bay Freewill Baptist Church.   She loved her family, and enjoyed music, gardening and cross stitching.   Jan was a proud member of the DAR.  She was a wonderful Christian lady who enjoyed teaching piano and mentoring.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Don Parker; brother, Rex Gay.

Survivors include her sons, Jon William Parker and wife Sheila of Mary Esther, FL, Mark Curtis Parker and wife Patrice of Moultrie, GA; grandchildren, Lauren Armitage and husband James, William Parker and wife Lesly, Holly Evans, Elizabeth Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Ethan Armitage, Zoey Armitage, Quinn Armitage, Matthew Parker, Natalie Parker, Lexi Hamilton, Aiden Hamilton, Andrew Hamilton, Katrina Evans, Khloe Evans, Kourtney Evans, Leah Seavoy, Lyla Seavoy; brother, Roger Gay of Austin, TX; sister-in-law, Aileen Gay of Moultrie, GA; faithful family friend, Dee Summerlin of Moultrie, GA; numerous other family members and beloved cat, Socks.
